Abstract
Farmland is a very valuable resource that continues to decrease each year. This decline of farmland can be seen throughout a majority of the states, especially those where urban population is moving into rural areas. An effective preservation program needs to be implemented to stop the conversion of prime farmland for other uses. If more effective programs are not implemented soon, the amount of land available for production will be greatly reduced.
