Abstract
Religion in the United States has been and will remain very controversial. Our country was founded on religious freedom; however, the limit of that freedom remains in question. Schools are a governmental institution in which the propagation of religious faith should not occur. Since most Americans know this law, why was a three foot by four foot portrait of The Head of Christ displayed in a public school in Bloomingdale, Michigan? Why was there a controversy surrounding the lawsuit? Why did people object to the picture being displayed? The main reason people react strongly to religious issues is because it is a very personal subject to which no one really knows for sure the answers, but everyone tries to do what is right according to his/her faith.
