Abstract
A common topic for young adult literature, as well as children's literature, is that of witches. Why witches? With the mystery surrounding the idea of witches authors have enough leeway to explore witches in their writing while including topics directly related to adolescents. Authors can use the witch to show unfair persecution or the importance of nature and women to the world.
