Abstract
The current trend of opposition towards pesticide use is challenged by a consideration of the role pesticides play in public health programs. Re viewed are the pros and cons of pesticide use. Arthropod-borne diseases are considered in detail along with current methods of control and treatment. Alternatives to chemical controls of pests are considered. Regulations on the manufacturing and use of pesticides are presented. The study proffers that pesticides, although deleterious to the environment when use is not regulated, are essential in maintaining the health of modern man,
