Abstract

Does the language we use to describe our mental states correctly represent what it is to think? Philosophers and scientists are interested in whether terms like "believe," "wish," and "desire" have any place in explanations of how we act. To provide a detailed account of the issues surrounding the use of everyday mental terms, I will divide this paper into five sections, each focusing on a particular facet of the problem.
