Abstract
In the spirit of the Inter-University Center's course on, "The Future of Religion" I will examine "otherness" as defined and presented in traditional Jewish and Christian scriptures, with the hope of working toward a fuller understanding of mutual inclusion and reconciliation of the one and the other. On another level I hope to develop, in part, a theory admittedly bound to theology, but strictly committed to praxis. My emphasis in this inquiry is not the authority of Talmudic or Christian scriptures, but how what is written in each can shape lives and societies in ways that are both restorative and propitious.
