Abstract
A manufacturer of surgical instruments desired to create an irrigation system that would provide fluid to one of two different instruments, controlled by a single console, based upon a specified input signal. The fluid for the irrigation system would be delivered by a peristaltic pump mounted on the console. A network of specialized valves was developed for use in the tubing assembly. With this developed valve system, the fluid destination is controlled by changing the rotational direction of the pump motor. The design project was concluded with the successful construction and testing of a functioning prototype.
