Abstract

This study assessed the effectiveness of a Professional Career Development course offered through Western Michigan University’s Department of Psychology. Based off of this data, the researcher was able to determine the benefits of the Professional Career Development course. A survey research design was used and a questionnaire was administered to 205 students from selected sections of four upper-level psychology courses. The questionnaire consisted of 17 close-ended questions in written format. Survey questions addressed material covered in the Professional Career Development course. The results demonstrated that the participants who have taken the course reported an overall average rating of a 4.15 on a 5 point scale and participants who have not taken the course reported an overall average of a 3.25. The data suggests that the Professional Career Development course was effective in teaching students the course material.
