Abstract
After graduating High School, I attended Kendall College of Art and Design, majoring in Industrial Design. A little background history ... sophomore year of High School, I missed two months of school due to serious medical issues (still live with these issues). During this time I found art as a comfort and something I could turn to when I felt nothing was there. Hence, this is why I attended Kendall College of Art and Design.
However, I really struggle my first year of college questioning if! was majoring in something I was truly happy with or was I majoring in something I knew provided comfort. As I began my second year at Kendal, I starting working at Kohl's. It was then I remember how much I enjoyed Project MODA my senior year of high school and how I was able to combine my love for art with the program. However, I kept telling myself that Kendall was were I needed to be. It was halfway through the full semester of my second year of Kendall, when I finally knew I needed to follow my heart and transfer to Western Michigan University.
I transfer to Western Fall 2011 . I can say without hesitation it was the best choice I have ever made. I thank Liza nay for developing and creating Project MODA. The textile and apparel studies program has allow me to grow more than I could ever image both individually and professionally. I can proudly say going into my senior year, I accepted a fulI-time offer at Kohl's Corporate for the Product Development program, I will begin next summer.
Project MODA, has changed my life forever. The program allowed me to find a major and career I love. I am forever grateful for the program. My dreams and hopes for every teenager that is involved in the program, whether they major in fashion or not, is that they remember the accomplishment of developing a garment. I want them to cherish that feeling and know they can accomplishment whatever they set their minds to do. Whether you take take three steps forward and one step back, you are to never give up (just like sewing and having to seam rip).
