Abstract
Occupational Therapy got its start with our veterans, and quickly proved its worth with many other populations. One of the principles occupational therapy was founded on is function and productivity rather than sedentary treatments, and that is also a founding principle of MRC, a non-profit organization employing people with all ranges of abilities. In this paper I discuss the benefits to all parties involved of active employment of those who may not be able to be traditionally employed, the therapeutic benefit of creating art as work as evidenced at MRC Artworks, and the difference both of these things have made in the lives of those labeled as vulnerable populations.
