Abstract
The objective of this paper is to utilize research and close reading in order to explore the representation of various economic principles and economic systems portrayed by Suzanne Collins in The Hunger Games trilogy. Through this exploration, the purpose of Collins’s intentional depictions of economic system mechanisms to readers is addressed, along with the importance of her intended target audience and the resolve to provide richer understanding of economic concepts to young adults in a time period when understanding is crucial.
