Abstract
Employee engagement influences teams and organizations, and is said to predict employee outcomes, organizational success, and financial performance (Saks, 2006). Current assessments and research are lacking in how to predict and assess an employee’s future engagement prior to joining the organization. These findings define engagement and the antecedents to engagement, and provides suggestions for the selection process. The first suggestion is to match motivation to rewards, followed by matching KSAOs to requirements. The final piece is to find an organizational culture fit for an employee. Potential research should be focused around additional measures to explore the engagement of future employees.
