Abstract
The purpose of this project is to explore the proof technique called mathematical induction in several fields in mathematics and in computer science. Chapter 1 defines the Principle of Mathematical Induction, the Strong Form of Induction, and the Well-Ordering Principle. Chapter 2 deals with induction in abstract algebra. Chapter 3 explores two proofs in computer science. Chapter 4 presents proofs based on the Fibonacci numbers, and Chapter 5 presents induction proofs from other areas of mathematics.
