Abstract
In the paper industry today there is a push to make paper more environmentally friendly and more sustainable. Solid bleached sulfate board is a grade of paper that is made from virgin kraft pulp that is bleached to yield high brightness pulp that when coated has high end print quality. With the right paper coating 100% recycle board can be used to replace some of the solid bleached sulfate at the same quality. This utilization would reduce the amount of chemicals used in industry for both the kraft pulping process and the bleaching process. This proposal will discuss what coating formulation will be the best to make 100% recycle board reach the same print quality as coated solid bleach sulfate board for high end printing. The coated solid bleach sulfate board had higher quality surface properties and higher overall print quality.
