Abstract
This study seeks to adapt Tinto’s conceptual model of students’ institutional persistence (Tinto, 2017) to determine attributes of students who participate in the Empower Success program at the Western Michigan University’s (WMU) Bronson School of Nursing (BSON). Using the Perceived Stress Scale (Cohen & Williamson, 1998) Brief Resilience Scale (Smith, Wiggins, Tooley, Christopher, and Bernard, 2008) Sense of Belonging Scale (Hoffman, Richmond, Morrow, & Salomone 2002-2003), and Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1965) this study aims to examine the correlations between these factors which are thought to be related to the completion of a nursing program.
