Abstract
Insects are among the most abundant and important creatures on earth, doing many valuable things such as pollination and decomposition. Without these organisms doing that work for us we wouldn’t be able to grow food, enjoy the beautiful landscapes they provide, and more. After working with a research ecology lab studying some of these insects, I became aware of the value they hold to our environment. My art comes from observations of actual insects that were collected by this lab. I now work to communicate information about these organisms through visual representation, similar to the way scientists often portray information through data. I want to expand the way research is comprehended, reaching more people who might be interested in it. Working alongside scientists, I hope to make what they do visually easier for people to understand.
