Abstract
This project explored how stigma is associated with mental health and mental health treatment among Western Michigan University honors college students. The 19-question questionnaire sent out to students and received 195 responses. It was designed around the K-A-P model, which looks at how knowledge influences an individual’s attitude and how attitude will in turn influence practice or behavior. It was found that as knowledge of mental health increases, negative stigma decreased. An education-based intervention was then recommended on how to specifically address this issue and the steps that should be taken.
