Abstract

The following report is the event plan for the All Sports Spectacular hosted by the Irish Hills Regional Chamber of Commerce (IHRCC) on October 5, 2024, at the Mill Sports and Event Center in Onsted, MI. The report investigates different elements of the event and how they contributed to the overall success of the event. It also provides recommendations for changes that can be made in the future to increase the fundraising potential of the event.

The project’s main goal was to raise funds for the IHRCC so that they are able to continue their mission of promoting business growth and development through collective resources such as economic development, area promotions and business education. They also use the funds to give local students scholarships. Additional objectives included creating more engagement with the chamber and developing personal skills and experience in the field of event management.

The IHRCC has hosted this event for several years, but it has not occurred since 2019 because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Because of this, we had the freedom to change things as needed to make the event a better fit for our current needs.

Planning for the event involved planning the major program elements and logistics, as well as determining the collaborators, getting sponsors, creating goals and objectives, determining marketing strategies, creating and tracking a budget, and following up after the event to see what was learned.

Overall, the event was a success for the chamber. It made a profit of over $18,000 and helped to increase visibility for the IHRCC in the surrounding community. The recommendations provided in the report will allow the All Sports Spectacular to remain an effective fundraising tool that boosts engagement with the IHRCC in the Irish Hills area.
