Abstract
Special Olympics Michigan Area 16, representing Kalamazoo County, asked Western Michigan University to assist with a study that would evaluate the merits of the current Unified Sports program. By examining the practices, the author was able to give suggestions on how to grow and maintain the United Sports program across the state. The purpose of this study was to examine the perceptions of important stakeholders of the program: family members, athletes/partners, and coaches regarding their commitment and satisfaction with the program. The evaluation focused on three main areas: (a) how effectively Unified Sports is presently being implemented; (b) its impact and value from the perspective of the families, coaches, athletes, and partners; and (c) the program's overall contribution to the mission.
