Abstract
The changing climate in our society has increased youth involvement in volunteering over the past two decades. A recent example of this increase is the AmeriCorp, a national Peace Corps. Another initiative is the National Service Act supported by both President Bush and President Clinton. Throughout the country, there are youth initiatives that are springing forth continually. There is a heightened awareness of the service that youth are able to provide their community. Over the last ten years, there have been numerous organizations formed to develop and facilitate such initiatives, also reaching the campus of Western Michigan University. There has been a shift to students who are community oriented.
