Abstract

A corporate code of ethics and the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act are discussed in this paper. The paper includes the following: problems of the 1970's to introduce the issue of corporate ethics, enactment of the FCPA in 1977, the effects of the FCPA on corporate ethics, and Congressional amendments to the Act. The paper concludes with the message that corporate ethics are essential in the American system of business.
