Abstract
How does a teacher improve a student's conceptual understanding and, consequently, their self-confidence in the math classroom? This requires an effective learning environment that is also comfortable for students. This thesis attempts to answer the following question: does using graphing calculators, as an implemented learning tool in the middle school mathematics classroom, significantly help to improve both conceptual understanding and self-confidence in students?
