Abstract
A unit created by the author on the earth, sun, and moon that engages students through hands-on experiments, demonstrations, and integrated technology. The unit has been developed to introduce third grade students to important science concepts regarding the characteristics and movements of the sun, moon and Earth. Students will explore the phases of the moon, what causes day and night, the four seasons, and the characteristics that make the sun, moon, and Earth unique. Technology has been heavily integrated into this unit to provide students with an opportunity to reinforce their learning by using relevant computer generated examples and allowing students to synthesize their knowledge using a variety of computer programs.
