Abstract
Genetic counseling is a new and dynamic field evolving from the many recent medical and genetic advancements. It not only involves the knowledge of counseling skills but also knowledge of a variety of concepts related to genetics. It is a broad field covering many areas from prenatal diagnosis to screening for genetic traits to counseling family members of an affected individual. it involves the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of genetic disease.
