Abstract
Although managing projects have been going on for hundreds of years, the practice has only recently been recognized as a discipline of its own. Master's-level programs are now appearing at business schools across the nation. In addition, certificate programs are being offered as well. Some organizations even require their contractors to provide project managers who have been certified by the Project Management Institute, a society for practitioners.
