Abstract
The European Community is a phenomenon unique in the history of the world. It is a notion that has been dreamed of since the time of antiquity and was finally realized in the form of a European Economic Community (EEC) in 1957. Six states (Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands) became participatory members in this Community and since then three additional states (Britain, Ireland, and Denmark) joined in 1973 to constitute the present European Community.
