Abstract
Governmental regulation is necessary in order to limit press freedom and protect all citizens, and is allowed under the First Amendment as long as these four elements still exist. The necessity of limiting the press becomes apparent upon examining the history of the freedom of the press and cases that fall under each of the four indicators of a free press.
