Abstract
This thesis will focus primarily on the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment. This provision of the Bill of Rights is a particularly illustrative example of the dynamic character of our nation's Constitution. Although few cases regarding this provision reached the Supreme Court prior to 1947, the broad range within the decisions that have arisen from Establishment Clause jurisprudence in this century portrays a variety of interpretations on the part of the Court.
