Wes has a strong voice that conveys action very well in subtle terms. He has captured themes in this short story that are not only believable, but common to many young people today who struggle for authentic relationships in a callous, self absorbed society.

This piece represents an exaggerated struggle that I feel many people can relate to. Many times throughout my life I have felt secluded and unworthy of others attention. This story contains a character that delves into that concept, showing that loneliness and the need for acceptance is felt by everyone, even at the “top.” The man has money and power, but the way he views himself highlights the flaws that come with his success, and this feels very real to me.
