Western Michigan University has numerous institutes and centers with a variety of functions. Some, like the Center for Disability Services and the Writing Center provide a service to the students, some are cross disciplinary, such as the Environmental Center and the Mallinson Institute for Science Education, while others focus on research, such as the Center for the Study of Ethics in Society or the Nanotechnology Research and Computation Center.
