Daily life in Boir Ahmad, Iran

This section depicts the activities of daily life beyond those concerning agriculture and herding. Many of these images are of women and children. Women worked incessantly to maintain the household, process milk, and raise children. Life was very hard for most of these women. Girls were an important economic asset for their labor in the household. Once education became available, children were sent to school by all but the very poorest families: at first boys, and then increasingly girls as well. This meant that parents had to work harder and longer into old age to maintain the family and to ensure easier future livelihoods for their children.
