Description

This session focuses on Augustine's conversion to Christianity. The papers presented in it provide 1.) an account of what happens at the point of Augustine's conversion, 2.) an analysis of the Christological center of Augustine's thinking on conversion in his early writings, and 3.) a demonstration that the roots of Augustine's later commitment to seek peace and unity in the Donatist crisis can be seen in the optimistic outlook he displays in "curing" the errors of the Manichaeans after his conversion to Christianity.
