Description

The writings of the poet, hagiographer, and bishop Venantius Fortunatus are important and illuminating sources for early medieval Gaul. Yet certain aspects of his work remain under-explored. The papers in this session discuss Fortunatus' theology, hagiography, and creation of memory. They will be of interest to scholars of early medieval and late antique religious culture and Latin literature. ~Hope Williard, University of Leeds
