Description
In 2015, the Hill Museum & Manuscript Library introduced its new on-line paleographical and codicological resource for manuscript studies: vHMML. Already in the planning stage at that time was a second initiative--titled "vHMML Reading Room"--which replaces HMML's previous on-line manuscript catalog (Oliver) and image server (Vivarium). This new resource features greatly improved metadata, including references to external authority resources for names of people, institutions, and places, as well as added search options for manuscript genres and subjects. Enhanced viewer capabilities incorporate HMML's application of the latest IIIF/Mirador technology. Ultimately, vHMML Reading Room will provide access to digital images of thousands of manuscripts. This workshop will provide an overview of the theory behind vHMML Reading Room, an introduction to its use and search functions, and plans for the future development of this completely new resource.
