Description

The Chaucer MetaPage continues the tradition, established by the late Alan Gaylord, of reading Chaucer aloud at Kalamazoo. Many medievalists - students, teachers, scholars - are uncertain or embarrassed about reading Middle English, especially poetry, aloud. This is unfortunate, as avoiding doing so is a detriment to readers’ understanding of, and insight on, the texts. Reading in small groups has proven to be extremely valuable in developing camaraderie and positive feedback.
