Description
Women are often underrepresented in records of crime, and therefore in histories of crime. The fourteenth century sees a flourishing of documentation about crime, including many involving women as perpetrators or victims. In all cases, women were also among the family members of those involved in criminal cases. Women could occasionally play a role as a juror, for example in determing whether a convicted felon was pregnant. This session invites papers with a variety of approaches to the question of women and crime in the fourteenth century.
