Description

Aelred, twelfth-century abbot of Rievaulx Abbey, wrote thirteen treatises, six on spiritual topics and seven on historical and/or hagiographical matters. The session will be the devoted to Aelred as a historian and hagiographer; it will focus on the way his narrative works expand and develop his concern with the role of memory.
