Description
The way scholars have interpreted the LBA has varied widely over the past century. The fragmentary nature of the work has lead to wild speculation concerning a possible serious internal biographical plot regarding the life of an archpriest, but that same fragmentary structure has also lead critics to analyse the comedic, often outlandish antics of a bumbling cleric, which is deconstructed by the anonymous author who laughs at and criticizes official religious and social conventions. Papers in this session should address the structure of the LBA and how that structure affects how we read and interpret this vital 14th century Spanish work.
