Study of the Ethiopian past has been gaining interest in recent years, as scholars become more aware of the deep links between Ethiopia and the Christian societies of the Mediterranean and Europe, and buoyed by the recent turn towards a global medieval studies. This session will present papers on Ethiopian magical and artistic practices that are of broader interest to scholars of the medieval past.
