Description

A significant portion of the historical impact of the Cistercian movement arose from the way the Cistercian Carta Caritatis generated a new, potent, and adaptable form of international organization for a network of far-flung local communities (in his case, monasteries). In honor of the 900th anniversary of this Charter of Charity, this panel will examine the authorship, vision, and economic impact of this vital piece of medieval monastic legislation.
