Description
This 2017 English translation of two medieval vitae of Margherita Colonna (1255–1280), translated by Larry F. Field and edited and introduced by Lezlie S. Knox and Sean L. Field, is now available in a paperback edition suitable for the classroom, making this an opportune time to examine this new resource in greater detail.
The four panelists will speak briefly, addressing the book from various perspectives, including women’s visionary culture, the Roman/Italian context of the Colonna family, gendered voices in hagiographical narratives, and Margherita’s place within the developing expressions of female Franciscan life in the second half of the 13th century. Editors Lezlie Knox and Sean Field will respond, with time for additional conversation with the panelists and the audience. Diane V. Tomkinson
