Description
Founded by the distinguished historian Dr Richard Barber in 1969, Boydell and Brewer celebrates its fiftieth anniversary as an independent scholarly publisher in 2019. Its flagship list lies in medieval studies, ranging widely across the major disciplines, including history, literature, art history, and music. The list also champions interdisciplinary work, in association particularly with York Medieval Press. During Boydell’s existence, much has altered in the field of academic publishing, including the role of the publisher itself. The aim of this round table is to bring together a number of those involved with Boydell, authors, editors, and series editors, to reflect on changes in publishing over the last half century; the challenges and opportunities for publishers and academics in the future; and the contribution made by Boydell and Brewer itself to medieval studies.
