Abstract
This article discusses methodological criteria employed in the elaboration of a forthcoming prospopgraphical repertory of Visigothic queens (419–718 AD). Some features of this project, never carried out before, are challenging: definition of the population, chronological criteria, lack of sources, and disperse bibliography. This article addresses both benefits and limitations of the prosopographical method in this case and suggests a hybrid approach to the repertory of Visigothic queens, combining the prosopographical framework with the critical biography. It also provides samples of two prosopographical entries and an unpublished (in English) list of all Visigothic queens, wives, mothers, and concubines known, both named and unnamed.
