This report is created by the Michigan Department of Health & Human Services from data self-reported by long-term care facilities into EMResource. Data is updated on an ongoing basis.
MDHHS has established a regional hub strategy to assist in reducing the spread of COVID-19 within nursing facilities. COVID-19 Regional Hubs have established units dedicated to treating COVID-19-affected individuals and have established appropriate staffing levels and protocols to support this level of care.
These case counts reflect current cases of COVID-19 among facility residents reported to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Please note that the data will be posted daily, Monday-Friday. These totals do not include patients or staff who have recovered or passed away prior to this report. It is important to note that that the presence of COVID-19 at a facility is no way an indicator of a facility that isn’t following proper procedures. Several facilities are supporting local hospitals by accepting confirmed COVID-19 positive residents and going forward will be noted as such.

On Friday, April 24, data about COVID-19 cases at long-term care facilities was posted for the first time at Michigan.gov/Coronavirus. On Monday, April 27, a change was made to the process in how the data was pulled. This led to data being posted on April 27 that did not reflect the information self-reported by facilities into EMResource. We were notified by several facilities and local health departments about this issue on Tuesday and a manual review of the information was conducted.
Providing accurate data is very important to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and we have established a process that will help ensure data posted to the website going forward will accurately reflect the data inputted into EMResource by long-term care facilities in our state.
