Abstract
This article discusses the cancellation of the Hajj to Mecca and the Shia shrines' closure in Iran and Iraq amidst the pandemic. The restrictions are viewed by many as violations of religious practice and the repression of religious minorities. The article details the tension between the governments of different countries and the religious organizations found there.
