Abstract
The New York Times focuses on a new religious group known as Happy Science and their recent activity in New York amid the coronavirus outbreak. The Happy Science religious group began in the 1990s in Japan, but has made its way over to the United States. The article focuses on Happy Science’s rituals and doctrine around the origins and cure for COVID-19. The group reportedly offers “spiritual vaccines” believed by Happy Science members to cure and prevent diseases and viruses such as the coronavirus.
