Abstract
Gladys Davis, a resident of West Bloomfield, Michigan, passed away from COVID-19 and according to The Jewish News, her death was the first COVID-19 related death in the Detroit Jewish community and in the whole Michigan Jewish community. The article describes the hardships and difficulties faced by Davis’ family during her passing. The article also describes the adaptations and changes the entire Jewish community is having to make, specifically when it comes to death, dying, and funerals, including the Jewish ritual of taharah or ritual washing. Rabbi Tamara Kolton officiated the funeral.
