Abstract
This article focuses on the UN and Catholic Church’s response to the Buddhist holiday of Vesakh, otherwise known as the birthdate of the Buddha, or a celebration of the life of Siddhartha Gautama. The article features a statement from UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres asking for everyone to look to the Buddha’s example of service and unity. The Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue of the Catholic Church is also included in the article, including their call for acts of service with Buddhists around the world during this pandemic, including an upcoming event in October known as "Reinventing the Global Compact on education".
