Abstract
This article discusses the tension experienced by Orthodox women who are encouraged to continue using the mikveh for ritual cleansing by some religious leaders, while other religious leaders are cautioning women to avoid any mikveh the hygiene status of which is not confirmed. The article details an incident in Israel in which a woman who had COVID-19 but was asymptomatic used a mikveh for ritual immersion. Two arbiters of Jewish law, Dr. Chana Adler Lazarovits and Rabbanit Sarah Segel-Katz, are featured in the article.
