Reflective Quote

The study abroad experience made me focus on community as something I'd like to incorporate more into m professional and personal goals. The Dominican Republic may be a developing country economically, but in culture, community and love it is wealthier than most states in the U.S. Seeing that in action made me want to work on creating it a home. Because ultimately my professional goal is to help people through my music, to make someone out there feel they're not alone and I won't be able to do that with a closed mind. This study abroad opened my eyes and mind at how unconsciously your own experience and bias can close you off, and motivated me to keep that in mind moving forward to start eliminating that thought process for the sake of bettering my connection and community with other human beings.
